As previously announced, Netflix is rolling out a major overhaul to its iPhone app today, including a new design focused on vertical video feeds called ‘Clips’. What’s new here.
Netflix’s iPhone app changes navigation design, adds vertical video feed

According to Netflix’s press release: :
We’re launching a new mobile experience that will make it faster, easier, and more fun to find something you’ll love to watch, listen to, or play.
Last year, we updated our TV experience for the first time in more than a decade. Now we’re bringing that same focus on simplicity and fun to mobile. The new design puts caring about you front and center with streamlined navigation and a visual, vertical search experience that feels right at home on your phone.
The navigation bar at the top of the app has been expanded to provide more options than ever before. And the bottom tab bar has also been redesigned, with the ‘New & Hot’ tab removed and dedicated tabs for ‘Search’ and ‘Clips’ added.
‘Clips’ is Netflix’s new vertical video feed in the iPhone app, and the biggest change in today’s redesign.
‘Clips’ is Netflix’s new vertical video feed

According to press release: Think of ‘Clips’ as a personalized highlight reel that helps you decide what to watch or play next without endless scrolling.
Here are three main ways users can benefit from Clips:
- Add to ‘My List’: See something you like? Add movies and shows to your list straight from the feed.
- share: Want to relive that long-awaited kiss, explore the clues behind that OMG twist, or join a friend for your favorite cozy watch? Use the arrows below to share recommendations to your friends and followers via text or social media directly from the feed.
- To explore: Planning a family movie night? Or just need a good laugh? Browse a personalized world of entertainment to help you decide what to play next.
Netflix says this is just the beginning of its vertical video ambitions. Clips would later be expanded to include “podcasts, live programming and collections based on genres such as romance or specific interests.”
According to Netflix, the new iPhone app design is becoming available today in various launch countries. These include America, Britain, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines and South Africa. It will launch everywhere in the coming months.
