What you need to know
- Netflix has announced that its mobile app redesign is rolling out to multiple countries.
- The app now displays commonly used content, like shows, movies, categories, and more, front and center.
- Another key attraction is the “Clips” feed where users can scroll through a set of relevant vertical videos to find new shows or movies to watch.
Netflix is expanding its resources to redesigning its mobile experience, and users can expect it to start rolling out now.
Netflix announced Its major mobile app rework is now rolling out this week in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and South Africa. It’s no surprise that many people are constantly on their phones throughout the day, and many even watch their shows or movies there. In this redesign, Netflix says it’s “putting what you care about front and center, with streamlined navigation and a visual, vertical search experience that feels right at home on your phone.”
Users will see a top navigation bar filled with shows, movies, podcasts, new and hot, and categories. Before users scroll down to your Continue Watching, Top Picks, and more, there will be some highlighted content below that.

A significant portion of the work on this redesign went into Netflix’s new “Clips” feed. If you’re familiar with Reels on Instagram or YouTube Shorts, you’ll feel pretty comfortable. Netflix says this vertical video feed was “designed for the way you actually use your phone: quick, visible, and easy to tap on something that catches your attention.”
The Clips feed is intended to feel personalized, so viewers can find something new to watch that they might find interesting “without the endless scrolling.” If you’ve found a show or movie you like, users will see an “Add to My List” button. Plus, sharing your favorite shows or movies with other people is half the fun. Users can share a clip from their feed via text or social media.
Additionally, users can “explore” clips in addition to what is relevant to you. Through this, users will access the vast expanse of Netflix’s entertainment catalog to find content they never knew they would enjoy.
The idea of a vertical feed was first floated earlier this year Netflix’s Q1 earnings call. While the company reported 16% year-on-year (YoY) revenue growth, an executive discussed its plans for 2026. Netflix said it was planning to improve its mobile experience and drive more engagement through this vertical video feed. It was said that this feed would be included in a new “Discovery Feed”, which we know as “Clips”.
Plus, the TV redesign that Netflix mentioned was exactly what the entertainment doctor ordered. The company introduced better flexibility and responsiveness for TVs, displaying tags for shows, and quick access to My List and Search.
Android Central’s Tech
I don’t think Clips is a bad feature. Sure, it feels like all the other vertical things we’ve seen recently (Disney, included), but it may have found its place. I think it could be useful for people who are opening the app and just want to see what’s new.
