Frontier Airlines has recently announced a series of “discounted rescue fares” and special flight passes on May 2 for stranded passengers affected by the closure of Spirit Airlines.
Under the new proposed structure, the airline is set to offer a special 2026 GoWild all-you-can-fly summer pass for $199, which will provide travelers with affordable options during times of hardship. The Denver-based carrier also operates more than 100 flight routes that Spirit Airlines used to operate.
According to officials, in addition to the 100 routes, the airline also plans to add 9 more routes and 15 daily flights this summer to expand reach to 18 countries, aiming to compensate for Spirit’s closure.
rescue fare discount
The rescue fares include discounted prices offering up to 50 per cent off the base fare for travel through November 10, 2026.
To get tickets at half price, passengers are instructed to use the promotional code “SAVENOW” when booking tickets on Frontier’s mobile app or website by May 10.
Promotional discount only applies to flights scheduled to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. If customers are choosing these days for flights then they will have to book at least 21 days in advance.
As for other days of travel, customers can avail 10 percent discount without the need for any advance purchase.
“Spirit Airlines plays a vital role in expanding access to affordable travel and bringing low fares to more people,” said Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s chief commercial officer.
“We recognize this is a difficult time for their customers and team members. Frontier is making discounted fares available to help people keep their travel plans,” he said.
According to Frontier officials, these discounts will be applicable only on the base fare, excluding fees and government-related taxes.
Here’s the catch! The offer covers certain dates when the discount cannot be availed of, including late May, June, July, September and parts of October.
Flights offered by Frontier Airlines
In Atlanta, Frontier offers three flights daily to Dallas, three to Miami and Tampa, and four to Orlando. Other cities where services are being provided include: North Carolina, Philadelphia (twice daily service).
In Detroit, Frontier offers twice-daily service to Orlando and daily flights to Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale.
The announcement comes after Spirit Airlines ceased operations following its failure to secure a $500 million federal bailout package.
