KL Rahul has finally converted the noise into a powerful answer. After years of criticism over his strike rate in the shorter formats of the game, KL Rahul has come back stronger in the ongoing IPL 2026.
The Karnataka batsman now leads the IPL 2026 batting charts with explosive performances for Delhi Capitals (DC). His brilliant innings against Rajasthan Royals not only helped his team make a strong comeback this season but also sent a strong signal to the selectors.

KL Rahul played a stormy innings of 75 runs with the help of six fours and five sixes in 40 balls, due to which Delhi Capitals achieved the target of 226 runs with five balls remaining and 7 wickets. His runs in Jaipur came at an impressive strike rate of around 188.

Currently, Rahul is the Orange Cap holder, having scored 433 runs in 9 matches for Delhi Capitals in this IPL season at an average of almost 55 and a career-high strike rate of 185.84.
The timing could not have been more perfect, as he lost his place in India’s T20I setup as the selectors and coaches felt his scoring rate was too slow for the modern game. He played his last T20 match for India in 2022. But now Rahul has completely changed the story and his bat is speaking volumes.
After Jaipur heroics, KL Rahul sends strong ‘strike rate’ message to selectors
After being named Player of the Match, Rahul openly admitted that his strike rate this season was the most satisfying thing for him, as it was the biggest question mark on his game for years. But the right-handed batsman has worked hard to adapt to the modern T20 demands, and he is now on fire in the ongoing IPL 2026.
Following his transition, Rahul sent a clear and unambiguous message to the Indian selectors, especially chairman Ajit Agarkar, by saying that he is doing what is required for modern T20 cricket.
KL Rahul said in the post-match presentation: “Strike rate. I think it was a big talking point for a few years. It’s something I’ve really worked on. I’m glad I’ve worked on it and I’m doing what’s required for the team first and foremost, and doing what modern T20 cricket requires. Yes, it’s something that’s enjoyable for me.”

Rahul inspires DC to bounce back after painful close defeat
He was happy to contribute to DC’s win over Rajasthan Royals on May 1. Before making a comeback in Jaipur, the Delhi team had suffered close defeats and missed crucial moments in the matches, but they have worked hard to fix those small mistakes and have focused on improving the execution during crucial phases of the game. Rahul shared that the biggest change is the mindset.
Rahul said, “This competition and T20 cricket doesn’t give you second chances. So, it was important that we take our chances and when we are ahead, work really hard and finish games, which we were not doing. I am really happy that we could get this win, and we are looking forward to getting a few more wins; that will give us more confidence.”
In the end, winning is all that matters😌
