Kenneth Branagh, who plays Meryl Streep’s husband in The Devil Wears Prada 2, is surprised by his performance.
In an interview with People, the actor says, “Well, she was very, very prepared. She’s really very strict about what she does.”
“But I think…she didn’t make it official, but what I learned from her was the real joy and feeling of acting in the scenes.”
He adds, “So she knew everything. She was completely prepared, but then in that moment, she reacted to what happened and what you said and how you said it. So she was very prepared, but also very improvised.”
On the other hand, Streep’s character Miranda Priestly is based on fashion icon Anna Wintour.
However, the Oscar-winning actress did not know him at the time of the first film.
“For the first movie, aside from fashion, I didn’t know him at all,” she said on Front Row, hosted by SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen.
“I just wanted to create my own Miranda. I wanted it to be my own thing, and ‘Who would I be if I was in charge?'”
After all, Streep said she “has known him for 20 years”.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters.
