A 60-year-old man relaxing while swimming in Western Australia’s famous Lake Argyle was not expecting when his tranquility turned into a nightmare after he was mauled by a crocodile on Friday.
During the chaos, three nearby rescue workers who tried to save the elderly man were also bitten.

But in a shocking twist, officials suspect that a freshwater crocodile attacked people in the lake, which is home to 35,000 freshwater crocodiles.
However, this is shocking to observers as this species is generally believed to be less aggressive.
The scene made the shudder-inducing event an anomaly, which perhaps explains why the annual Lake Argyle Swim remains open.
However, in the wake of the horrific encounter, officials charted a revised course.

In 2022 a 40-year-old woman was killed by a freshwater crocodile in the same popular Lake Argyle, forcing authorities to shoot the reptile.
In the leg biting attack, the 38-year-old woman started screaming in panic before being taken to a local hospital for treatment for her injuries.
According to wildlife officials abcAccording to the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation, the crocodile, which was 2.5 meters in size, was tracked down and killed after it was observed showing aggressive behavior upon contact.
This decision was made for the safety of the public, as the lake was a popular swimming spot.
