Greetings? The Kentucky Derby has a few.
Hours before America’s most famous horse race began in Louisville, spectators joined in the event’s other time-honored tradition (besides day drinking): parading around Churchill Downs in outrageous costumes.
But it wasn’t just the hats – fascinators, fedoras, bowlers, sailors and feathers (so many feathers) – that caught the eye. There were also other horse-drawn accessories: purses, embroidery, jackets and more.
For many, entertainment was the name of the game – it seemed to be less about what you’re wearing and more about how big it is. You wore it.
A wild ride as always.
