Luke 21:25-38

²⁵ “Signs will appear in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and people on earth will be distressed because of the roar of the sea and the waves. ²⁶ People are fainting with fear and anticipation of what will happen on the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. ²⁷ And then they will see the Son of man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. ^{(1) 28} But when these things begin to happen, stand up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is near.”

²⁹ He told them a parable. “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. ³⁰ As soon as they start to sprout leaves, you can see for yourself and know that summer is indeed near. ³¹ In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God has come near. ³² Amen I say to you: this generation ⁽²⁾ Until all these things happen, it will not disappear. ³³ Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.

Be prepared!

³⁴ “Be careful, otherwise your minds will be burdened with revelry, drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that day will come upon you suddenly. ^{(3) 35} For it will fall like a net on all the inhabitants of the whole earth. ³⁶ Be alert always, praying that you may be saved from all these things that are about to happen, and stand before the Son of man.”

³⁷ In those days, Jesus taught in the temple courtyard, and every night he went out and spent the night on the Mount of Olives. ³⁸ And everyone used to come to the temple early in the morning to listen to him.
