Nothing sparks joy in me like the transitional season between spring and summer. I have to admit, I’ve already changed my wardrobe and taken out my thick knits and now there are clothes hanging in their place. Yes, some might say it’s premature, but I’m far from knitwear and big coats and summer is finally within our grasp.
The art of dressing in transitional weather comes down to key wardrobe staples that can be worn with a variety of outfits regardless of the season. On those grey, windy days, layers and trousers are still important, while for blue skies, opt for flip flops and a poplin skirt. UK weather can be somewhat unpredictable and can change at the toss of a coin, so having a jacket on standby is something I would always recommend.
I’ve scoured the feeds of some of our favorite influencers and compiled five transitional spring summer outfit ideas to give you all the inspiration you need. You can thank me later.
1. Cami Top + White Trouser
Style Notes: There’s nothing I love more than a monochrome moment and Lisson’s look is at the top of my list to recreate. Simple yet so stylish, a cami top paired with white trousers looks so effortlessly chic. I also love how she brings texture to her look with the crochet scarf around her waist.

2. Poplin Skirt + Suede Jacket
Style Notes: Poplin skirts played such a big part of my wardrobe last year and I expect it to do the same this year. Khaki gives instant color without feeling Very Shiny. Suede jackets were all the rage last year and we predict they’ll be around for a while yet, so pairing your look with a brown suede jacket is ideal for those chilly afternoons.

4. Matching Co-ord Set + Sandals
Style Notes: When it comes to my spring/summer wardrobe I can’t live without a coordinating set. There are more than I’d like to admit, but I love their versatility and how effortlessly charming they are. Worn together or separately, they are a must-have in a transitional wardrobe. I love the burgundy tone of Monikh, it’s going to be on trend again this year.

5. Checked Shirt + Denim Shorts
Style Notes: Recently checked shirts have indeed served their time and will stick around, so don’t retire them just yet. They’re a great layering option and perfect for days when it’s a little too warm for a jacket but you feel you need to cover your arms. Sara’s look has inspired me to go out and invest in a cream denim short with my cotton flannel.
