On 28 February, an attack on Shajreh Tayyebeh Girls Primary School killed at least 175 people, mostly students.
Iranian media have released previously unseen footage showing the immediate aftermath of the attack on a girls’ primary school in Minab that killed at least 175 people, most of them children.
The Shajareh Tayyebeh school in southern Iran was attacked on 28 February, in the early days of the US and Israeli bombing campaign. The building was located near a naval base, but was separated from military facilities by a fence visible in satellite imagery.
A short, disturbing video shared by SNN TV on Sunday shows two frightened young girls in dust-covered school uniforms. There are blood stains on the scarf on a girl’s face and head. Many people are seen running towards a building surrounded by smoke.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly denied that the US military was responsible. Although multiple investigations by media outlets and analysts have concluded that the school was probably attacked by a US-made missile, the evidence points towards a Tomahawk attack.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in early March that the US would never intentionally target civilians and that the incident was being reviewed.
Iran has called this attack a war crime, while the United Nations has called it a war crime. “A serious attack on children, education and the future of entire communities.”
