This is the heart-wrenching moment a baby trapped outside a third-floor window was pulled back from a ledge by rescuers.
Dramatic footage shows a three-year-old boy clinging to a cable while standing on a small window 33 feet above the ground of a building block in China.
Neighbors and policemen rushed to the rescue after an emergency call was received at 6:40 am on May 6, reporting the horrific incident in the Chinese city of Zhangye.
Locals tried to reach the trapped child with the help of a ladder – but discovered that the ladder was too small to cover the distance of ten metres.
But when police arrived at 6:47 a.m., the loincloth-clad youth was pulled to safety by a policeman and local shopkeeper Wang Duohong.
The hero pair lay down on their stomachs and reached down to grab the boy’s hand and pulled him onto solid ground.
Witnesses heard the child screaming for help as he became stuck on a small ledge and feared for his life.
According to community workers, the child was left alone at home while his parents went to the shops.
He reportedly climbed out of a window and reached the outside of the building.
Another local report said the young man was playing on a ledge when he slipped and was left hanging on a cable.
Hero shopkeeper Wang said: “At that time, I didn’t really think about being scared. I just got worried when I saw such a small child hanging there.”
The shopkeeper said: “We are all neighbours, and as long as the child is rescued safely, that is all that matters.
“Fortunately, nothing happened to him and he was not hurt at all.
“When we pulled her over, her grandpa was there, so I just handed her over to him.”
Police later warned parents and caregivers to keep a close eye on small children at home, close windows and doors, and ensure homes are properly protected from accidents.
Another child in St. Petersburg, Russia had an even more terrifying experience when he fell 110 feet from a high window.
The heart-stopping moment was captured on video and shows the baby sprinting towards the ground.
An 18-month-old boy survived a terrifying fall because two quick-thinking women pulled up his coat and buffeted him milliseconds before he hit the sidewalk.
