There’s nothing too conservative in terms of colors in its audio lineup. The Year (Open) was launched last fall only in white, leaving fans disappointed to see Nothing experiment with bold colours. This changes on May 11, when Nothing Ear (Open) adds Blue to the Nothing lineup.
Nothing Ear (Open) Blue is a straightforward color combination with no specific changes and no new features. Under the hood, you still get the same year (open) from September 2024. That means 14.2mm titanium-coated drivers, Bluetooth 5.3, and IP54 dust and water resistance. Total battery life with the case is 30 hours.
The open-ear design wraps around the back of your ear instead of sitting inside it, allowing you to hear while remaining aware of your surroundings. There’s no active noise cancellation, but that’s the whole point with this style of earbuds.
The Nothing Ear (Open) Blue is said to be part of its growing open wearable stereo portfolio, and the timing makes sense. Many reviewers marked the white-only color as an odd call for a brand that already plays with bolder colors. Both Nothing’s CMF sub-brand and main lineup have explored yellow, orange, and beyond.
No one teased the color, sharing a blue version of Fluffy via his usual Pokémon-themed social posts earlier this week. This is the same character that was used to indicate the original ear (open). The price of the Blue variant has not been confirmed yet, but the original variant launched for $149.
