Team India may soon get a new face in the coaching setup as Punjab Kings (PBKS) spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule is now in the race to get that spot in the team. This news has come at a time when a change in captaincy is expected in the T20I setup after IPL 2026.
With talk growing about Shreyas Iyer or Hardik Pandya becoming Team India’s next T20 captain, the team management is also planning some new changes in the support staff before the start of the next international cycle, after the end of the ongoing IPL 2026.

Sairaj Bahutule has quietly built a strong reputation as a coach over the years. He is currently working with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2026. The former Mumbai star is highly respected for his work with spin bowlers and young players.

Now, a report from Cricbuzz suggests that Bahutule may soon join the India national cricket team as the spin-bowling coach. Bahutule has already spoken to Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior BCCI officials about a possible role.
