Janet Jackson has made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala following the release and success of the biopic. michaelWhich is based on the life of his late brother and pop king Michael Jackson.
She was present at the event to celebrate the launch of her 1989 album rhythm nation 1814And took the opportunity to share a plea for peace, unity and positivity.
“It’s so beautiful to relive the memories of this project that are so precious to me,” Janet said of the album, which earned seven nominations and won Best Long Form Music Video at the 32nd GRAMMYs.
Noting that the album “still resonates on a deep and profound level,” he added, “It is an ongoing force that fights bigotry and promotes understanding. As we celebrate tonight, let’s remember that it transcends all borders, nationalities and religions.”
He added, “May the music of Rhythm Nation bring us together in peace. And may that peace allow us to celebrate this precious gift of life that God has given us.”

This comes after the biopic michael was released in which Janet Jackson reportedly turned down the opportunity to appear in it.
When asked why she didn’t appear as the character, her sister La Toya Jackson explained Diversity“I wish everyone was in the movie. She was asked and she politely declined, so you have to respect her wishes.”
