Rickie Fowler has revealed that a persistent left shoulder injury was the main reason behind his struggles during the 2025 PGA Tour season.
Speaking after shooting 63 in the second round at Quail Hollow, Fowler said the problem had been troubling him since his younger years, but had become significantly worse last season.
“Left shoulder. The thing I was basically concerned about in high school and college. But it flared up at the beginning of the year,” Fowler said.
The 37-year-old golfer managed only three top-10 finishes in 21 events during the 2025 campaign despite making 18 cuts.
He has equaled that total midway through the 2026 season and is currently 30th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Fowler said the pain continued to worsen throughout the year and he eventually had to undergo ACP injections during the off-season.
“I tried to manage it the best I could throughout the year. Then once I found time, I was able to do some ACP injections to help soothe and calm it down.”
The American also revealed he was battling a severe sinus infection during the opening round of the Truist Championships, saying his temperature had registered “102, 103”.
Away from golf, Fowler recently announced a partnership with beverage company Tropicana
