Is it just me, or does it seem like every celebrity is wearing the same designer bag at the moment? Whether they’re heading out to dinner in LA, to a meeting in NYC, or to an event in Cannes, chic dressers are taking this less-subtle style into their arms. The bag in question is a Gucci Borsetto.
Launched as part of the brand’s S/S 26 collection, Borsetto is designed to combine archival heritage with modern luxury. A key feature that aligns the borsetto with current trends is its distinct, iconic east-west silhouette, complemented by long straps. The archival element originates from part of the bag’s name, “morsetto”, which refers to horsebit in Italian. The iconic equestrian hardware sits on the front of the bag, resting on the brand’s instantly recognizable web stripe – also known as Gucci’s signature green and red stripe. It comes in two sizes – large and medium – and four colors – brown suede, black leather, cognac leather, and sand and brown GG canvas.
While stars like Dua Lipa, Alex Consani, and Vittoria Ceretti have been seen carrying the bag, it has recently become popular among older demographics, including people in their 40s and 60s, like Demi Moore and Anne Hathaway. Moore is seen carrying the bag, which she has in two different colors multiple for occasions, and styled it with everything from long coats, jeans and boots to bomber jackets, tailored trousers and hardware-adorned pumps. Hathaway, on the other hand, has styled it a little more casually by pairing it with a letterman jacket, track pants and loafers.
