The Duchess of Sussex is traveling to Switzerland to unveil The Lost Screen Memorial, a touching tribute to young people who have died as a result of digital harm.
Meghan Markle will attend the ceremony at the Place des Nations on Sunday evening, where she will be joined by WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and other senior global health figures.
The event takes place on the eve of the 79th World Health Assembly, WHO’s annual gathering where delegates set international health priorities.
During the inauguration, the Duchess will honor the children commemorated in the installation while calling for increased safeguards worldwide to protect young people in digital spaces.
The memorial consists of 50 illuminated lightboxes 4.5 feet high, each displaying the lock screen of a mobile phone of a child whose life was ended due to online violence.
These screens represent the same images parents once saw when they reached for their devices, a haunting reminder of the lives lost.
Archewell Philanthropies, the charitable foundation founded by Prince Harry and Meghan in 2020, developed the installation in collaboration with The Parents Network, an organization that brings together bereaved families who campaign for safer digital environments for young people.
