The wardrobe change from spring to summer is one of the most exciting. But I also can’t help but feel a little pressure as I try to untangle the beauty I’m looking for as each year comes and goes. I digitally flip back and forth between websites, add things to my cart, then immediately close my tabs before digging through my hangers and closet drawers and trying to determine what still works.

Of course, I am in a state of indecision, and when it comes to preparing a summer wardrobe, or at least strengthening my current wardrobe. Luckily, French women’s fashion sense often encompasses many of the details I look for in a summer capsule. It’s that perfect balance they always strike which is casual yet elevated, effortless yet sophisticated. Their approach to summer fashion trends is no different, except for lighter materials and a slightly more casual aesthetic. I find that for those who call this place home, it is an ideal starting point to escape the noise

So what are the summer French fashion trends for 2026? There is a broad mix. What’s most notable is how wearable they are, and how easy they are to adjust and mold a trend to fit your style or plans for the next few months. For example, silk scarves are back, and dresses serve as chameleons, with belts, tops and bags acting as charms. Polka-dots and lace trim are also top choices for French women this summer – and they offer plenty of ways to style them, too.

There are ample options that also fit into the broader global trend-scape The red and black flip-flops and bohemian embroidered tops reflect what we’ve seen in cities like London, Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. So, if you’re crafting your own summer wardrobe now, these French fashion trends will make piecing it together more effortlessly.

    1. Silk scarf

Style Notes: Silk scarves are everywhere this season. we saw them here Paris Fashion Week both on the runways (looking at you Chloé and Saint Laurent) and in attendees. Just when I thought there was no more creative way to wear them after neck ties, bag accessories and hair bandanas, French women offered another option – tying silk scarves around their waists or as low-slung belts. This is an easy way to instantly break up an outfit, which is very useful when you want to add dimension to a tried-and-tested look.

Style Notes: It’s not a secret The bohemian aesthetic is back in the fashion narrative. As a season, summer is an ideal time of year to try out these looks, including stylish embroidered tops. A close cousin to the anglaise broderie blouse and peasant top, this particular style gives texture and color to your outfit. Parisienne influencer Lena Farl totally embraced this look, which features retro ’70s styles including flared jeans, bandanas, and suede boots.

    3. Polka-dots

Style Notes: Polka-dots are a playful pattern trend that no one saw coming this year, except perhaps French women. Although they’re attention-grabbers, there’s something about the repetition of these circles that feels downright beautiful, as proven by the number of dresses, jackets, skirts, and blazers I’ve seen on my feed recently. They look beautiful with capris, skirts and shorts, and the combination of polka-dots of different sizes creates a chic but maximalist statement.
