Although the weather hasn’t exactly sounded summery lately, despite us somehow getting closer to June, one thing’s for sure: When the sun finally appears, you’ll want your summer nail moodboard locked and loaded before you book the next nail appointment. Because if there’s one beauty ritual that instantly signals the start of the season, it’s a new set.
And this summer’s nail color trends are becoming anything but predictable. While bright socks and skin-colored nails will have their place, 2026 is ushering in a moodier, more experimental color palette, all vying for attention. Think sweet pea green, ocean blue that are tailor-made for beach escapes and rich chrome that prove that dark colors aren’t just reserved for winter.

1. Low-key green
If Barbie pink had its moment, consider sweetpea green a cooler, more understated successor for this summer. “Green is one of the defining color stories of 2026, but in softer, more muted tones. Sage and pistachio tones feel fresh, modern and unexpected; they’re a subtle way to wear the color while still feeling elevated,” reveals Kalnina. 2. Mute Chrome
“High-shine finishes are evolving for 2026, mixing soft shine with a more futuristic, statement look,” says Kalnina. Don’t be, they work beautifully with the light playfulness of the season, catching the sun with every activity while still feeling polished.

3. Ocean Greens

6. Aqua Blue
This blue lightning bolt is my personal favorite. “This bright blue color creates depth and movement on the nail, almost like water, making it perfect for summer. It’s a playful color with a high-gloss finish,” says Kalnina.
