Office Actor Creed Bratton has revealed that his real name was rejected before he became famous by his stage name.
The actor participated in AT&T’s Small Business Appreciation event on Wednesday, during which the actor shared that his real name is Chuck Ertmoed and explained how he adopted “Creed Bratton” during a trip to Greece several years ago.
“Oh my God, I learned this name in Greece,” the 83-year-old man said. Peoplebefore revealing that he was in the Greek islands after working on a film project in Israel and traveling with a director with whom he was romantically involved at the time.
During the trip, he met a couple in a café who were preparing to go to Crete to teach English. While chatting over drinks, Bratton told him he planned to drop out of college and pursue a career in music and acting.
“I told them I was going to be a rock star, an actor and I was going to drop out of college,” he revealed. “And they said, you can’t be Chuck Ertmoed – which is my real name, Ertmoed. And so we made up the name right then and there.”
Bratton said the name stuck with him immediately and by the next morning, he had completely adopted the new identity. “I was Creed Bratton,” he said.

Years later, he joined The Office, where he played an exaggerated and fictional version of himself.
Reflecting on his unusual career path, Bratton admitted that he never expected to find success in two completely different entertainment eras.
He admitted, “I got to be in this hit band in the ’60s, and they think it’s over.” “And then Office Comes with. That is madness.”
