Edward James Olmos reveals how he feels about reuniting with Jennifer Lopez.
After playing the actress and singer’s on-screen father in Selena nearly 30 years ago, the actor admitted he feels “so happy” to reunite with JLo in an office romance.
During his conversation with People Magazine, Olmos shared what it was like to be asked to work with him again. He said, “Very happy. Very surprised, very happy. I said, ‘Absolutely. It would be an honor for me.’
“I haven’t read the script. They just asked me if I wanted to be a part of it. I said, ‘Sure. Whatever he wants,'” he said.
Recalling that Lopez had also played a younger version of her character’s mother in the 1995 film Me Familia, Olmos said, “Then in Selena, I played her dad, and here again I’m playing her dad. No, we’re family. In every way.”
It is worth noting that Jennifer Lopez had also earlier got angry at Edward James Olmos during an interview. She said, “I’ll tell you what happened. We were standing on the carpet just a few minutes ago.”
Adding, “I was standing with them, and I remember taking the cast photo with Selena and I said, ‘Oh my God, do you remember when we did that years ago?’ And he says ‘I remember it well!'”
“I was like, ‘And here we are.’ He’s like, ‘We’re here.’ He says, ‘I’m so proud to be here with you.’ I said, ‘I love you so much, thank you,'” the actress said.
