MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has confirmed that Rohit Sharma has started batting in the nets in Ahmedabad and is being closely monitored by head coach Mahela Jayawardene along with the medical team.
Mumbai Indians started IPL 2026 by ending their 13-year winning drought in their first game of the Tata IPL. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing a mammoth target of 220 and Rohit Sharma looked in massive touch.
However, in the next few games, the batsman struggled and faced his toughest challenge while chasing another big target against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury in that game and retired hurt in that game, where MI lost the game by 18 runs.

The Indian maestro is practicing in the nets for the MI team ahead of the match against Gujarat Titans. Their upcoming encounter is against the in-form GT team, who have now won three consecutive matches and will be taking to their home ground with pride.
Talking about the return of Rohit Sharma, MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey revealed, “Rohit is batting in the nets in Ahmedabad, and continues to be assessed by the medical team and head coach Mahela Jayawardene.”
Will Jacques is expected to join MI ahead of the clash in Ahmedabad
Mumbai Indians are eagerly waiting for the return of one of their key players this season. Will Jacques played for them last season as an off-spin bowling all-rounder who came to bat lower down the order.
Playing the same role, he scored many runs and took important wickets for England in the ICC T20 World Cup. Despite no reports of any injury concerns involving the English all-rounder, his return remains doubtful.

Despite some close matches, they have now lost four consecutive matches. Bowling form has been a major concern as they have failed to take wickets in all phases of the game.
