Miles Teller has acknowledged Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney as pioneers of the “celebrity spirit” boom.
Speaking in a new conversation with hollywood reporterThe actor has shared whether he has been in touch with Ryan Reynolds or George Clooney after The Finish Long Drink, a ready-to-drink canned cocktail beverage company in which Taylor had a minority stake, was acquired by the Marc Anthony Group of Companies.
The company was sold in a business deal worth a reported $325 million.
Since, for many, the deal is being compared to the massive success of Ryan Reynolds, who sold Aviation American Gin to Diageo in 2020 for $610 million, the actor was asked if Reynolds had reached out to congratulate Miles on the financial windfall.
He explained, “That first wave of people with Ryan and Clooney and Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman — it kind of started it all, where you had a lot of celebrity imitators coming up and saying, ‘Hey man, look at this cash grab.'”
“But anyone in the industry will tell you that doesn’t happen. If you research celebrity brands, a lot of times it doesn’t work out. It’s hard to build a business in general.
Referring to friends whose companies failed, he also emphasized the high stakes of the venture.
“I can tell you, I’ve had a lot of messages from different friends and people who built companies and had companies fail, and they said, ‘Miles, this is a huge win. That doesn’t happen often, it’s extremely rare.'”
“I’m sure less than one percent of people who start companies end up selling it for any kind of profit. It feels good because it was a new area for me and I’m really proud of it.”
“I’m very excited for our founders. How great for them to come from a country where they don’t export a lot of things on the global stage,” he said decisively.
