Matthew McConaughey and Judy Greer starred in The Wedding Planner, but the latter got a real-life hero moment.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight the actress recalls that, at the time she was working on the film, her financial situation was poor.
It was so bad that she remembers she couldn’t even pay the valet at the Roosevelt Hotel, where she attended a table read for The Wedding Planner, where she played Penny.
Greer said, “I valeted my car; I didn’t know any better.” “I didn’t have enough money to get my car out of valet because I was so broke.”
Trapped in a lobby, he calls his friend for cash, and in his darkest moment, McConaughey steps in as a hero.
“I was calling my friend Sean Gunn on the payphone in the lobby, and Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me $20. I was very embarrassed, but so was my hero.”
Additionally, Greer reminisced about working with the Oscar winner on the rom-com, saying, “I loved seeing her in hair and makeup every morning, because she had pajamas on and a yerba mate (tea). I haven’t worked with her since then, but I guess not much has changed.”
The Wedding Planner, released in 2001, was a hit and grossed $94 million at the box office, starring McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez.
