one in blog postYouTube announced that users in the entertainment industry will now have access to its similarity detection feature. This includes talent agencies, management companies and celebrities. Expanding this feature could help root out celebrity deepfakes on the platform.
If you’re unfamiliar with this tool, it works very similarly to Content ID. However, the feature searches YouTube’s platform for AI-generated content with the participant’s likeness. If a user finds a video that has a likeness they disapprove of, they can request that the video be removed.
The feature was first announced in 2024, allowing a subgroup of users to flag and request removal of AI-generated content that mimics their face or voice. Earlier this year, the feature was expanded to government officials, journalists and political candidates.
