- Chrome now lets you save and reuse your AI signals.
- This feature works with your Gemini chat in Chrome.
- You can also customize any saved AI prompt.
As I use Google Gemini and other AI, I often find myself typing the same prompt for different questions or requests. Sometimes, I remember writing a perfect sign in the past, but can’t remember how I expressed it. If I could easily reuse previous prompts.
Now I can do this at least with Gemini and Chrome. A new feature called Skills launched in Chrome for desktop on Tuesday.

With the skill, you can save an AI prompt and then reuse it in the future by selecting it from the list. To reuse a saved prompt in your chat window, simply type a forward slash or click the plus button and select Skill from the menu. That skill then carries over into your new chat. You can also edit your saved signals and create new signals.

The skill is designed to work with the Ask Gemini feature in Chrome. When you need help with a particular web page, you can chat with Gemini in the sidebar. Here, you can ask the AI questions about content and even reference pages across multiple tabs.
In a new blog post, Google highlighted some sample skills created by early testers of the feature.
In one example, a saved prompt instantly calculates protein macros for any recipe found on the web. In another, the skill shows you a side-by-side comparison of different products displayed in multiple tabs. In another, the saved prompt scans a long document on a web page to bring out important details.
library of skills
To launch the new feature, Google has also created a library of skills for common tasks and topics.
One such skill is finding the perfect gift by comparing your budget to the recipient’s interests. Another skill is checking the ingredients of the food product you are viewing online. If you like one of Google’s pre-built skills, you can save it to your list, where you can make changes to it or simply reuse it in the future.

As a safety precaution, some skills will ask for your permission before running, especially if they’re performing specific tasks like sending an email or adding an event to your calendar. Your skills are also protected by Chrome’s own security protection.
Availability
For now, Skills is being made available to all Chrome desktop users with their language set to US English. Since they are still in the process of being launched, you may have to wait a bit before they reach you. Once they’re there, you’ll be able to access them using Gemini in Chrome by typing a forward slash and then clicking the compass icon.
