MagSafe seems to work like a charm. Luckily, there are no tricks here, just some good magnetic attraction. At ZDNET, I’ve tested dozens of MagSafe accessories, from battery packs to wallets, phone cases, tripods, and more, and other team experts have reviewed even more specialized MagSafe gear like SSDs and voice recorders. But my favorite accessory is still the MagSafe Wireless Charger.
Too: I followed the ‘Plus 5’ rule for wireless charging and it fixed the charge speed of my iPhone
In particular, I prefer the multi-purpose MagSafe charging setup — which can charge my Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time as my iPhone — more than anything else. But I’ve found that many people skip these things for one reason or another, often citing price, size, or loyalty to the convenient USB-C cable (bonus points if it has one). extra tall 6 feet version) for bedside charging.
Here are three reasons you should upgrade to the MagSafe wireless charger on your nightstand – and why.
1. Eliminates cord clutter
The best reason to invest in a wireless MagSafe charging setup for your bedside is the most obvious: fewer wires, less clutter, and a more streamlined look. This is especially important if you charge multiple devices in one place – a MagSafe multi-charger can eliminate the need for multiple wires that easily get tangled and tangled with each other.

And while I know many people love long-lasting iPhone charging cables (me included), it’s not recommended that you keep using those wires lying around your bed. If you frequently use the phone in bed these cables can become trapped under the cover, increasing the risk of overheating and even lithium-ion fire.
Note: If you’re using one of these cords and charging in bed, be cautious, and make sure to place your charging device on a hard surface before sleeping.
2. Optimizes your charging (and space)
If you have multiple devices that you charge from different wires, it’s time to consolidate them. MagSafe wireless chargers come in a number of configurations and use cases, from horizontal or vertical orientation to dual or triple wireless charging.

Instead of having multiple cords doing the same thing, you can have one charging unit near your bed that does it all. And trust me, the initial cost is worth it. Plus, if you’re short on space, vertical upright chargers with stands can free up a lot of space on a nightstand or desk, while lay-flat chargers (like the one above) are perfect for those with tabletops that have more space. And if you only need to charge one device? Single wireless chargers are also available.
Bonus: foldable charging stations are great for those who want to buy just one setup that works for both home and outdoors.
3. Bonus Features
MagSafe wireless chargers often won’t power up your device. Some are foldable for travel, some collapse for sleek storage, and others have rotating components, stand features, and more. If you choose a direct charging setup, e.g. Twelve South HiRise 2 DeluxeYou can use your iPhone in standby mode, or use it as a support for entertainment and streaming.
