YouTube may still be the Internet’s top destination for original video content, but in its two decades of existence it has grown to include many other types of media as well. We’ve already got a few different ways to access the post. Probably the most common purpose is to pull up a creator’s Community tab, but you’ll also find posts scattered around your Home and Subscription feeds. In YouTube’s latest feature experiment, the site shares that it plans to start prominently displaying posts mixed with shorts when you’re watching on the mobile app.
In addition to seeing a lot of posts inserted between shorts, you may also see image carousels emerging. youtube actually started Testing images in shorts Late last year, but it looks like the effort is about to seriously expand, including a carousel with 10 photos you can browse.
Creators will be able to add music and text overlays to spice them up a bit, and hopefully that means they’ll fit in a little more naturally with the shorts’ video content.
You won’t have any say in whether or not you’re selected to join YouTube’s test, but the company is curious about feedback, so if you’re included and have any opinions, be sure to let YouTube know. Google says this is “the first of many updates… as we continue to expand the format”, so it looks like we’ll be getting even more Post-related surprises soon.
