USCIS Director Joseph Edlow said fraudsters and other criminals should be prepared to face consequences as the administration goes after those who have green cards. Along with the new special agents, the agency is on track to open multiple tip lines where people can report immigration fraud. “No tip is too small. We will work with our partners at ICE and CBP to consider this.” Those who are committing fraud, stop! Because we’re going to find you. If you’ve already done this and think you’ve got away with it, we’re going back. As you noted earlier, we are looking at older cases. We are going back and reexamining the cases of people who were granted green cards and other benefits during the Biden administration when there were no investigations, Edlow said. The USCIS Director said, “Our primary mission is to keep Americans safe. Despite the challenges of radical, activist judges, we remain committed to protecting this country. We have a duty to keep America safe – and we will do it without regret.” The administration wants people who won’t be a burden on the system, Edlow said. Edlow said, “We want people coming to this country who can take care of themselves and not be a burden on the government treasury. If you can’t pay for yourself and take care of yourself, you won’t get a green card in this country.” The statement comes as the administration has halted immigration and benefits to many countries, arresting and deporting green card holders. Last year, USCIS announced that it would have its own agents authorized to carry firearms and arrest people for both civil and criminal immigration and non-immigration violations. Along with its own ICE, USCIS is now the target of harsh action as this entity has the authority to initiate investigations, arrest accused persons, carry firearms, etc.
