keep the main thing in mind
“Then he asked them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered, ‘Blessed are you, Simon, son of John, because my heavenly Father has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any man.” -Matthew 16:15-17
How would you feel if you bought tickets to see your favorite artist and you arrived and found out that someone else, who is not as talented, is going to do the show?
I don’t know about you, but I would be very disappointed! I want my money back, and I want to leave, even if the show was good.
Sometimes in the Christian community we can get caught up in programs, people, and unfortunately money. None of these things are bad at all, in fact, they’re good things! They are the ones who help bring people closer to Christ and build His kingdom. But if we don’t keep Jesus at the center, it’s all in vain.
I recall an experience at a church I once attended where everything was about the programs. I began to remember my Savior, Jesus. Isn’t it sad? Missing Jesus in Church! He was supposed to be the star of the show, but he wasn’t – the program was.
As Christians, we need to make sure in our ministry work and even in our lives that we keep the main thing at the center – the main thing – Jesus.
Is Jesus at the center of your life and ministry? Make sure that’s the main thing, and that will allow space for all the other things that need to be done.
