Queen Elizabeth II made sure that her emotions did not come in the way of duty.
Britain’s former queen, who died in 2022, kept her emotions aside when it came to work.
In the book My Mother and I, royal expert Ingrid Seward quoted former politician Douglas Hurd as telling Seward: “The Queen trained her emotions away from herself to avoid any confrontation.”
Seward said: “The Queen’s former press secretary, the late, mysterious Martin Charteris, who began working for her when she was Princess Elizabeth, agreed”.
She added: “The Queen is not good at showing affection. She will always do her duty.”
“The Queen actually had very little to do with (her first child, King) Charles.” As the former press secretary recounted, “When Mummy was in the country he spent an hour with her after tea, but somehow even those contacts lacked warmth.”
