Analyze it Presents his new single, “limerence,” A song that speaks directly to what happens when affection and connection begin to suffocate. Unlike traditional love songs, the track focuses on the concept of “limerence”, a state of obsessive attachment where one person falls in love with an invented version of another. The artist writes from the perspective of the recipient of that attention, describing how initial flattery gradually turns into a feeling of entrapment.
The song’s lyrics are known for their honesty and avoidance of unnecessary drama, instead focusing on self-awareness about relationship dynamics. A key moment in the track is the phrase, “You lie on my chest, and I can’t breathe,” which perfectly summarizes the emotional imbalance that Annalies wants to convey. According to the artist, the song was born out of the process of realizing that, in certain dynamics, one ceases to be considered a person and becomes an idea or object of someone else’s desire.
“I wrote it from a place of therapy and understanding. I have experienced what it’s like to love in a way that feels obsessive rather than safe”, assured Annalies.
Musically, “Limerence” is classified as bedroom pop with alternative touches. The production is built on steady percussion and layered harmonies accompanied by very close, rhythmic vocal delivery. The design fits the lyrics of the song perfectly; It starts intimately and gradually builds tension without completely releasing it, reinforcing the idea of feeling trapped.
Originally from New Hampshire, Annalies has developed a style rooted in transparency and simply recounting personal experiences. Throughout her career, she has received international media attention from acts such as Wonderland and the Clash and has shared the stage with artists such as Annie DeRusso and Infinity Song.
“Limerence” is an important part of Annaliese’s development, as she is already working on her debut album and a short film.
