King Charles and Queen Camilla ended their US trip with a warm message on the royal family’s social media.
The couple thanked the Americans for their hospitality and said in a heartfelt message posted on Instagram that the trip meant a lot to both of them.
The photo of the couple and the message posted next to the Statue of Liberty read, “Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the support you have shown us in your special anniversary year, during our first visit to America as King and Queen.”
He added, “We leave a piece of our (heart) behind and take a little piece of yours home with us. Until next time… God bless America.”
It was signed “Charles R. and Camilla R.”
The trip saw Charles and Camilla visit Washington, D.C. and New York City, where they attended several major events, including a historic speech to Congress marking 250 years of American independence.
His schedule included a meeting with Donald Trump and Melania Trump at the White House, a state banquet and meetings with business leaders.
During their high-profile visit, the Emperor and Queen Consort also paid tribute at the 9/11 Memorial in New York.
During the visit, Trump praised Charles, calling him a great king. He bid farewell to the couple, saying, “Really great people. We need more people like this in our country.”
The US President said, “He is a great king. In my book he is the greatest king.”
