Berea police and federal authorities are searching for a suspect after two bank employees were shot and killed during a robbery at a U.S. bank branch Thursday.
Kentucky State Police said the suspect entered the bank wearing a gray and white hoodie, gloves and a mask before opening fire on employees inside the branch.
Trooper Scotty Pennington confirmed that a male and female employee died in the attack.
“They are our people who work in our community, and they are no longer with us. At this time, we have some leads, and we are doing our best to bring this evil individual to justice,” Pennington said.
Authorities released a photo of the suspect, who is believed to be approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall.
Police said he fled toward East Chestnut Street, although investigators are still trying to determine whether he fled on foot, by vehicle or with outside help.
Authorities have not confirmed whether money or valuables were taken during the robbery.
“If you notice something strange, and you don’t feel right about it — you know, your dog is acting strange — call us,” Pennington said.
