However, it appears that a recent bug has made this method unusable for some people.

Pixel Buds owners are turning to it reddit To report a noise control problem. These users claim that the toggles for ANC, Off and Transparency modes have disappeared. Specifically, this error occurs when attempting to access controls via the extended volume slider menu, which is done by tapping on the three dots below the volume slider.
It appears that owners first started noticing the bug after the March 2026 update. A Reddit user Claims that the problem persisted even after rebooting all of their devices, clearing the cache and data for the Pixel Buds app, removing and re-adding the earbuds, and adjusting several settings. They also claim that the bug was fixed by the April 2026 update, but the problem has resurfaced.
As mentioned earlier, there are a few ways to change the noise control mode, so these users are not without other options. However, this kind of bug is very inconvenient. Android Authority Google has been contacted for comment. We will update this article as new information becomes available.
