Kendall Jenner wore capri pants with this non-heel shoe trend

There’s an unwritten rule among fashion people when it comes to the capri-pants trend of 2026: To get the look right, the wearer needs to pair the silhouette with heels, even if it’s a tiny kitten heel. I live with it, as do my colleagues at Who What Wear, but recently, an alternative has emerged that has made me completely reconsider my dislike of wearing capri pants with flats. Naturally, Kendall Jenner is a responsible wearer, who pulled off a casual, daytime LA outfit so charmingly that I couldn’t possibly keep quiet about it, even if it Did Go against my strict no-flat rule for the popular pant style.

This week, Jenner, who has since traveled to New York City for the Met Gala, posted a slideshow on Instagram that included photos of her posing next to one of her many vintage cars — this time, a silver Ferrari 512 TR — while wearing a layered white T-shirt with capri leggings from Adanola and black EVA flats from The Row. This outfit was absolutely ’90s, which went well with her choice of car, given its years of production – it was only available in the mid- 1991 and 1996-and gave a clean, calm environment that immediately inspired me to recreate it. Normally, I try to do everything except the flats she wore, replacing them with thong sandals or mules with 2″ heels, but something about Jenner’s photos made me stop and consider her version instead.

The key to wearing a capri-pants-and-flats outfit is to find a sleek, slightly square or pointed-toe pair, as opposed to the round-toed version, which has a tendency to make your legs look shorter. The shape of long toes elongates the shape of your foot, which, in turn, gives an elevated effect. Jenner is wearing great workout clothes, and although they’re gorgeous, her outfit looks like it’s much more tailored and polished than anything you’d typically see at the gym. That’s because her square-toe The Row flats take the leggings and fitness tees she usually wears and kick them up a notch. It’s genius, and it will work every time if you try it. Personally, I’m glad I did.
