King Charles has no problem protecting Princess Eugenie.
Her Majesty, who has sent an open congratulatory message to her niece on her third pregnancy, has been protective of Eugenie despite problems with her father, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Speaking about the uncle-niece duo, royal commentator Afua Acheampong-Hagen said: “I think it’s interesting that, even though there was a post on social media, that the official announcement came from Buckingham Palace,” she explains. “I think that means she’s clearly still on the royal family’s side.”
“I think it also gives them a little bit of security at this time,” she says. “A delicate time, early pregnancy, but also for the royal family to come together under such an umbrella to announce that ‘she’s still under our protection, she’s under our protection, she’s being looked after’.”
“It’s kind of like ‘stepping back,’ we are protecting this girl, our granddaughter, our niece, at this delicate time, and that’s why we’re making the announcement,” Afua says.
Afua says, “I also think it’s important that he wrote at the end that the king is happy.” “Again, it is reiterated that she has been protected – that she is a darling of the royal family, that she has been taken under the protection of the King.”
