The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in the US last year for $449.99, and as of September 1 it’s getting $50 more expensive. So it would be $499.99. The company says it is doing this “in view of changing market conditions”.
The Switch 2 is also getting CAD 50 more expensive in Canada and €40 more in Europe. In Japan, the hike will go live much earlier, on May 25th.
Interestingly, Nintendo is also predicting a decline in Switch 2 sales next year, which is probably related to the price increase. In the first full fiscal year after sales began, Nintendo sold 19.86 million Switch 2 units, which is more than the original managed in its first year (15.05 million units). In the coming year, Nintendo is expected to sell only 16.5 million Switch 2 units.
