A man died Saturday while hiking on the Mount Wilson Trail, the second death on the rugged trail in a week, officials said.
The Sierra Madre Police Department said the 53-year-old man died after experiencing a medical emergency en route, and that no foul play is suspected. The victim could not be identified.
After receiving information that a person was facing health problems, firefighters and officials reached the spot at 10 am and provided care, but were unable to save him. News release From the police department.
Sierra Madre Police and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department are investigating the incident, the release said. No details were given on what type of medical emergency the man experienced.
Saturday’s death comes a week after another person was declared dead after falling into a ravine at the Mount Wilson Road and Little Santa Anita fire on the same trail.
At the time, officials did not say whether the man died from injuries sustained in the fall or from a medical event.
