When my wife and I bought our home and it came time to get a TV, we knew we wanted a TV like Samsung’s The Frame — we didn’t want an ugly black box to be the focus of our living room when not in use. Ultimately we went with Hisense’s first CanvasTV, and we liked it. This year, Hisense released the 2026 S7 CanvasTV, and right now, the 50-inch model is $798.99 after a $500 discount (originally $1,299.99). According to the price tracking tool, this is the lowest price ever.
The primary draw of the Canvas TV compared to Samsung’s The Frame is price: If you choose The Frame, you’ll have to buy the frames that go around the set and pay separately for most of the artwork, while Hisense includes all that in the list price. Like The Frame, the Canvas TV also comes with a flush TV mount that will allow you to hang it so that it looks like a real art piece. I also like that the Canvas TV comes with Google OS, which is my favorite smart TV operating system, as it lets you cast seamlessly from your phone (Android or iPhone).
This new version improves peak brightness, bringing it to 500 nits (as opposed to 450 nits) and features an ambient light sensor that adjusts brightness and color based on the brightness of your room (you can turn this off). Side viewing angles are believed to be better, but to what extent we will have to wait for reviews to confirm.
What do you think so far?
If these changes don’t sound very exciting to you, the 2024 is still a great option in 2026, and it offers a big discount too. The 55-inch version is only $599.99 at Best Buy (originally $999.99), which is quite a price drop for a slightly larger (but older) TV.
