Norway’s Queen Sonja is hospitalized due to an incurable illness.
The Norwegian Royal House announced this week that Her Majesty has been diagnosed with heart failure.
The palace statement said: “Her Majesty The Queen was admitted to the National Hospital today with heart problems.”
Earlier on 24 May, the Royal House released a statement which read: “Her Majesty The Queen is on sick leave for a week due to atrial fibrillation and heart failure following a checkup at the National Hospital today. The Queen requires rest and adjustments to her medication.”
It comes as the Queen’s husband, King Harald, also suffers from serious mental health problems.
In February 2026, King was hospitalized due to infection and dehydration during a family vacation.
