Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar left helpless by Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar had no answer to the aggressive approach of the RR opener in the powerplay. Vaibhav attacked right from the start and never allowed the RCB bowling unit to make a comeback, making the target of 202 very easy for Rajasthan.
Their remarkable efforts and Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 81 helped RR achieve the target with six wickets in hand and 12 balls to spare against the defending champions in Guwahati. The RR team remained unbeaten with its fourth consecutive win, while RCB suffered its first defeat of the season.
This knock helped Vaibhav clinch the Orange Cap, surpassing his own RR teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal in the race to become the leading run scorer in the ongoing IPL 2026. The player from Bihar has so far scored 200 runs in four matches with two half-centuries and an excellent strike rate of over 260.

After the thrilling match, a special moment stole the show in Guwahati when RCB icon Virat Kohli interacted with the young batsman. Kohli praised Vaibhav’s fearless performance during the customary handshake and then he also left a warm handwritten message for the teen star.

After the match, RR captain Riyan Parag also praised his young opener. Parag said in the post-match presentation: “I think everyone loves him. Everyone loves being around him. He loves eating things. He loves going out and things like that.”
He further added, “So we make sure that we provide that to him. And he is a 16-year-old kid, 15-year-old kid, whatever. Yes, doing childish things. And he is happy with it. He loves batting very much. So, we make sure that it is provided to him. And if he keeps batting like this, then I think that is what he wants.”
