The Motorola Razr Ultra was one of the best foldable phones of last year – and easily the best flip-phone foldable you can buy. Yes, it was expensive, but it was one of the most capable devices in its category. Now, its successor – the Razer Ultra (2026) – has arrived.
Unfortunately, this is kind of bullshit. Compared to the 2025 Ultra, the Razer Ultra (2026) is practically the same phone. It’s $200 more expensive despite virtually zero notable upgrades or improvements. It’s not at all what you want from a new smartphone, but that’s what Motorola has given us.
While you can spend $1,500 on the Razer Ultra (2026), I really don’t think you should. Instead, here are five other Android phones you’re much better off with.
What do you think is the best alternative to Motorola Razr Ultra (2026)?

Motorola Razr Ultra (2025)

If you’re looking for a flagship Android flip-phone, the Razer Ultra (2026) is definitely the one for you. But do you know what it also does? Razer Ultra (2025). Buying last year’s version of a flagship smartphone is often a smart way to save money and get a great experience, but in the case of the Razer Ultra 2025 and 2026, there’s really no good reason to buy the new model.
Why? Because, for all intents and purposes, these two phones are the same. They have the same display sizes for both the external and internal screens, and the display technology, resolution and refresh rates are also the same. The camera systems between the two phones are similar, as are the charging speeds, storage, RAM, IP rating, and even the dimensions/weight are similar. Heck, the Razer Ultra (2026) also uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip as the Razer Ultra (2025). When I say these are the same phones, I mean these are the same phones.
To Motorola’s credit, the Razr Ultra (2026) isn’t 100% identical to its predecessor. Its battery is slightly larger (increasing from 4,700mAh to 5,000mAh), the internal display has become a bit brighter, and it comes in new colors. But that’s it.
The best part of all this is how cheap the Razer Ultra (2025) is these days. At the time of publishing, you can buy the Razr Ultra (2025) from Motorola’s website for just $800 — and that includes a free pair of Motorola earbuds. Plus Free storage upgrade on the 1TB model (which doesn’t even exist for the 2026 Ultra). Unless you really want to spend $700 more for that bigger battery, just buy the 2025 Razer Ultra and pretend the new version doesn’t exist.

Ultra-fast charging and excellent battery life • Ultra-flagship-level performance • Top-notch materials and striking Pantone colors
High-level processing power in a folding shell
Adding Ultra to the name, the Motorola Razr Ultra is Moto’s first folding phone with a top-tier processor. The 7-inch folding display is paired with a half-size front display to give you both a premium experience and a compact and portable communications device.

Motorola Razr (2025)
If you’re new to the world of foldables and want to finally join the party, the Razer Ultra (2026) could be an attractive option. But instead of dropping $1,500 on your first folding phone, I’d strongly recommend buying something much cheaper — something like the Motorola Razr (2025).
Compared to the Razer Ultra (2026), the Razer (2025) has some glaring shortcomings. Its MediaTek processor isn’t as capable, its camera system isn’t as impressive, its displays are a little smaller and its charging speeds are a little slower. If you’re just looking at the spec sheet, it won’t take long to realize that the Razer (2025) isn’t that impressive technically.
However, for someone testing the waters with a flip-phone foldable for the first time, nothing like In fact Matters. The Razr (2025) has a great hinge mechanism, has the same IP rating as the Razr Ultra (2026), and offers basically the same folding functionality as its more expensive brother.
More importantly, it is also quite affordable. The Razr (2025) sells for $700, but at the time of writing, you can buy it for as little as $550 — about $1,000 less than what you’ll pay for the new Razer Ultra. If you’re not totally sure a flip phone is right for you, but you know you want to try it, this is a better way to go.

Better hinges • Flexible cameras • Excellent value
The most affordable 2025 Razr
A good-looking 6.9-inch folding display, combined with a 3.6-inch external display makes for a compact folded phone, with few compromises in overall size. The Motorola Razr 2025 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X and packs 8GB of RAM, a 50MP camera, and a 4,500mAh battery.

I’ve talked about the Razr Ultra’s $1,500 price tag many times before, but it’s really ridiculous what a price Motorola is asking for a phone. Not just compared to the old Razr, but also next to the upcoming Motorola Razr Fold.
The Razr Fold is Motorola’s first book-style foldable, and, naturally, its design is much more versatile than the Razr Ultra – you get a 6.6-inch screen on the outside and a larger 8.1-inch display when you open the phone up. The Razer Ultra has portability, but the Fold is essentially a phone and tablet. The Razer Fold also has a periscope telephoto camera (something the Ultra lacks), a much larger battery, faster charging, and four additional years of major software updates.
You might think that all this would be available at a very high price, but that is actually not the case. Compared to the $1,500 Razer Ultra, the Razer Fold is only $400 more expensive at $1,900. That’s not a modest amount, but if you’re already preparing to spend that much on a foldable Motorola phone, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck with the Razer Fold. Plus, it’s actually a brand-new device rather than a repackaged phone from last year.

The Razr Fold marks Motorola’s entry into book-style foldables with an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO main display and 6.6-inch cover screen. It features a triple 50MP camera system with periscope zoom, stylus support, and optimized multitasking software.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

While the Razer Ultra (2026) certainly has the best specs compared to other Razer models, it looks noticeably less impressive when you put it next to a non-folding Android flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may not have a foldable design, but it offers a lot of horsepower and tech capabilities for less money.
Instead of the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that powers the 2026 Razer Ultra, the S26 Ultra has the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Samsung’s phone has a much more powerful 200MP primary camera, as well as two telephoto cameras. The S26 Ultra comes with a built-in stylus, a more durable IP68-rated design, and a unique privacy display that can keep prying eyes away from your phone.
If you want the convenience and cool factor of a foldable phone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is clearly not a good fit. But when it delivers so much phone value at a retail price that’s $200 less than the new Razr Ultra, Samsung’s phone is undoubtedly the more practical option.

Privacy Performance • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy • Power AI Features
Powerful flagship with top-tier cameras, AI and privacy features.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Ultra to date, featuring a 6.9-inch display with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a redesigned cooling system for the Galaxy. It doubles the imaging with a brighter 200MP main camera, advanced zoom, advanced 8K video features and ultra-exclusive privacy and Galaxy AI tools.
google pixel 10 pro

Finally, I’d like to end my recommendations with the Google Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro is one of my favorite Android phones on the market today, and as much as I love flip-phone foldables, I can’t really imagine spending $1,500 on the new Razr Ultra when Google’s flagship is available for less than $500 — and is objectively better in many ways.
Cameras are a major advantage for the Pixel. Motorola’s setup on the Razr Ultra (2026) isn’t terrible, but the Pixel 10 Pro has the better camera setup between the two. Not only do you benefit from a dedicated telephoto lens, but Google’s image processing and overall camera experience is also more reliable.
The Pixel 10 Pro also benefits from Google’s excellent Pixel-exclusive software features, as well as seven years of guaranteed Android updates – which is much better than the three years of support you get on the Razer. And while some people might not care about it, I like the built-in magnets on the back of the Pixel 10 Pro.
Like the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Pixel 10 Pro lacks the excitement and craze of a foldable. But if you want one of the best Android phones available in 2026 – and want to spend much less than what Motorola is asking for the Razr Ultra – then you can’t go wrong with the Pixel.

Top-tier specifications with a small display • Excellent cameras • Powerful AI tools • Top-notch software
More power in a smaller form factor
The Google Pixel 10 Pro has everything you want in a flagship Android phone with a 6.3-inch display in a really compact body. Google’s new Tensor G5 chip is more powerful, the 100x Pro Res zoom is really impressive, and there are tons of helpful AI features. Needless to say, you still get seven years of Android updates.
