Let’s make one thing clear. I like long nails. they are amazing. However, I prefer short nails for myself for three reasons. First, they are more practical. When I have a long, almond-shaped set, it takes me a little longer to complete everyday tasks like typing. Second, they’re easy to maintain, especially if I’m on a DIY manicure kick. Third, they have a cool, fresh and modern energy that I can’t explain.
I’m a firm believer that certain nail designs and colors look best on short nails, which is why I constantly update my personal color palette based on the season, trending colors, and my many moods. This spring, I’m experimenting with everything from bold poppy red to whimsical lilac, stylish cerulean and sophisticated vanilla cream. Check out all six spring-specific shades I’m co-signing this season.
poppy red
In the ever-changing world of beauty, there are only a few arguments I’ve staunchly defended for a decade or more. One of them is that orange-red (aka, poppy red) is highly underrated and, at times, more attractive than the standard blue-tinged red. Yes, this is a hill I’ll die on. It’s fascinating! confident! Mighty! And incredibly attractive IMO. Although it’s a year-round staple for me, I’ve been putting a special emphasis on it in my spring color palette.

If you’re like me, you think the devil wears prada Whenever you see or hear the word “cerulean”, especially the scene where Miranda Priestly schools Andy on his “lumpy blue sweater”, it is identified as a dark blue color. And maybe it’s because the long-awaited sequel is finally upon us, but Cerulean is trending in fashion and beauty. (On that note, some are truly incredible cerulean colored makeup products Available now.) It’s the *stylish shade* of the moment, and it’s just waiting to spruce up your next manicure.

lilac
I’ll be the first to admit that this is a surprising color choice for me lately. In the past, I hated purple, convincing myself that the bold color matched the reds and pinks of my skin. Although I haven’t completely mended my relationship with purple (I still avoid many shades of it), I have come to love bright, whimsical lilac hues. They’re fun, attention-grabbing, and surprisingly charming. Plus, they feel very relevant for spring.

Light pink is a classic (read: obvious) choice for spring, but lately I’ve been loving it a little more. Maybe it’s because I recently restocked my tried-and-true shade – OPI bubble bath ($12)—At a late-night CVS stop, but the pale pink color felt extra soft, pretty, and pretty. It’s forever chic, timeless and elegant. I believe it is equivalent to wearing flower petals on your fingers.

vanilla cream
Bright white nail polish is my main thing Pedicure color palette. It looks very fresh and clean on my spring and summer toes. However, I rarely include it in my manicure. I can’t explain it, but it feels a little more harsh or unforgiving when it comes to my fingers.
I think I have found the solution. It’s a softer, creamier version of the traditional white that I call vanilla cream. It’s subtle, chic, and seasonless—one of those sophisticated nail colors that works in any time, place, or situation. I love wearing it on short, square nails and adding a glitter topcoat over it for extra expensive-looking shine.
