Rajasthan Royals have been the center of controversy in this edition of the IPL, and now the BCCI has clearly indicated that they will not let it go easily.

Rajasthan Royals made a great start to the season and won four matches of the season since the beginning of the competition. They won the opening matches due to the remarkable dominance of their batsmen.

However, once the batsmen, especially the middle order, started struggling with the bat, the Royals lost their winning streak and continued losing matches. After playing 10 matches in the season, they are now stuck on 12 points.

Romi Bhinder’s humiliating case in IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals’ first controversy occurred at the start of the season during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

During the clash, team manager Romi Bhinder was seen sitting in the dugout with the players and using his mobile phone. Next to her was young Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was seen staring at the phone screen.

Bhinder’s offense was that as a manager he was allowed to enter the field with a phone, but was not allowed to take it out of the dressing room. After this, BCCI had imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him for violating the rules.

Riyan Parag’s vaping incident against Punjab Kings

The next incident occurred during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. Parag was seen vaping inside the dressing room of Rajasthan Royals, which was captured on camera.

Following the incident the BCCI found him guilty and reprimanded him under a Level 1 offence, as well as fined him 25% of his match fee. He was also given one demerit mark for this misconduct, as it was serious work indiscipline.

The BCCI has punished both the individuals involved in both the incidents; However, they have not managed to punish the team. Since then, he has been reprimanded, and some protocols are underway.

Maintain some decorum – BCCI secretary blames Rajasthan Royals for indiscipline

Speaking at the announcement of the Women’s T20 World Cup squad, BCCI officials said they are exploring options to punish teams that violate IPL norms.

Since then, the BCCI Secretary has been adamant on the idea that the image of the IPL can never be affected, and hence, action should be taken against these types of acts, while certain measures should be implemented to maintain the decorum of the tournament.

Devjit Saikia said, “It is not just a matter of players or officials. As a team, they have to maintain certain decorum so that the image of the IPL is never adversely affected. We have to take a decision to ensure this and we will take some action.”
