Summer is my season. My birthday falls in July, and the long days, warm temperatures, and atmosphere of activity make me come alive. Without a doubt, this is my favorite season to dress up. There are less layers and less practicality to factor in, plus an explosion of colors and maximum details that make an outfit feel more fun to pull together.

But there’s been a change in how we style pieces together for summer that’s required some adjustments. Without layers, it can feel like there’s less to do. No shirt, under the jacket, under the cardigan, under the coat. It’s usually a one-layer situation, maybe two if the weather turns or it’s chilly on an evening, which can sometimes make our outfits feel a little flat or basic.
