Maya Hawke and KJ Apa have acknowledged that voiceover work cannot be compared to film and television roles.

He said that “we all get typecast in one way or another” but that lending your voice to a character gives you “a lot of freedom”, as it gives you a great opportunity to “try stuff out and learn about different shades and hues of the people whose souls and minds you occupy.”
Hawke considered it “a really wonderful place to get your gear wet”, while Apa was “excited” about the fact that the voiceover work doesn’t rub off on you.
“Needless to say I didn’t take it that seriously, but stepping into a studio and just having fun without the pressure that comes with stepping onto a film set was a breath of fresh air. I’ve done voice-over stuff before, but the story wasn’t as extensive. … It’s just a different kind of fun,” explained the 28-year-old New Zealand actor and musician.
